In response to a few questions we’ve been getting we have decided to make up an F.A.Q. page for the magazine, which you happen to be looking at right now. If more questions arise, don’t hesitate to ask us here.
I still don’t really understand what you’re looking for exactly.
Okay, that’s not really a question, but it’s a perfectly acceptable issue you’re having. We are looking for small-form media. So videos or songs should be 60 seconds long, text should be related to a 60 second snippet of the world (or film, or games, or whatever), or take about 60 seconds to read. Hopefully that clears that up.
Can you explain the payment model to me?
Sure. Contributors to the first issue will not be paid any type of monetary sum. Future contributors will receive payment at the end of an issues run. We’ll essentially pool up all the profits and distribute them evenly among all contributors. So, payment isn’t a set amount, it’s related to how many people drop the 99 cents into the app.
How often will this come out? How will we know when a new issue is coming?
For the moment we’re going to issue this quarterly. Issues will be available as an in-app purchase — buy we’ll probably issue an update to the actual app with each issue just to let you know a new issue is out. Alternately we can collect email addresses and send out an update. We honestly haven’t really figured this out. Feel free to email us with suggestions though!
Why didn’t you accept my work?
Probably because you didn’t: A) send it in the right format. B) didn’t stick with the theme. C) we had so many contributions we had to pick and chose, in which case we would have sent you an email telling you why we didn’t accept it.
Will I be able to get this on my Android/Blackberry/other smartphone?
For now, no. We’re working on getting it to as many platforms as possible — but more importantly we’re working on getting it looking and operating good on the iDevices first.
Can I send you something I already put on the web?
No. We’re looking for new, original material specifically made for this project. Would you submit an article you wrote for Wired to Time Magazine after it was already published? No, you wouldn’t. We’re not trying to be jerks, we just want you to make new and interesting content and not to rehash old things.
